The World of the Living (also known as "Gense"), also referred to as the Human World, Material World, Earth, or the Living World, is where living Humans reside.

Overview

Multiverse

The World of the Living is home to Wholes and Humans. Hollows, which normally reside in Hueco Mundo, often visit the World of the Living to hunt souls which they feed upon.

Soul Reaper World

The Soul Reaper World's World of the Living is similar to the regular Earth in reality, but has fictional locations with pocket and/or actual realms. The concentration of Reishi in the atmosphere is lower in the World of the Living than it is in Hueco Mundo and the Soul Society. Soul Reapers and Arrancars can gather Reishi underneath their feet to stand, walk or balance in the air, while Wholes seem to be able to float around at will. This is not possible in the Soul Society, where special artifacts are required to fly or float in the air. The area in the World of the Living which has the highest concentration of Spirit Energy and has the highest rate of attracting spiritual beings is referred to as the Jureichi. The exact location of this area varies over time, but is currently Karakura Town.

Ninja World

The Ninja World's World of the Living is set on a singular fictional continent that is divided into a number of different countries. Countries operate as separate political entities and are presumably all monarchies, ruled by feudal lords who stand equally in rank with the Hidden Villages' Kage. This World of the Living is similar to feudal Japan in many aspects; those countries maintain balance between themselves through nothing but power. Treaties are periodically signed, but they are generally not worth much more than the paper they are written on.

Hidden Villages are parts of countries in which the country's ninja reside. Their leaders stand equally with the landlords ruling the countries they are a part of. A Hidden Village maintains its economy by training its citizens to be ninja from a young age and using them as manpower in various missions others would be willing to pay for, from weeding a garden for a single payment to receiving a constant budget from the country it resides in for being soldiers in case the country is involved in a war.
